| | Duties: | The Quality Control Analyst will review, approve, and monitor GIS data for conformance with industry standards and project specifications, recommend revisions of specifications when indicated and formulate, or assist in formulating, quality assurance and control policies and procedures.
- Receives GIS data from GIS Technicians.
- Reviews GS data for conformance with industry standards and project specifications, and approves GIS data meeting the standards and specifications.
- Offers observations relative to variables and deviations from prescribed standards of quality.
- Recommends revisions of specifications and/or quality assurance and control standards when indicated.
- Formulates or assists in formulating quality control policies and procedures.
- Expedites and follows up on procedural and specification changes and performs such liaison required with other production divisions.
- Assists with the application and monitoring of established quality control procedures and methods.
- Assumes production management for assigned GIS projects, including project management, application development, and training of personnel and systems integration.
- Acts as a resource relative to the organizational aspects of assigned projects.
- Participates in the design and production of GIS data.
| | Qualifications: |
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Planning, Geography, Cartography or a closely related field, with 3-5 years of experience automating databases for a Geographic Information System.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional coursework and training in quality assurance and control procedures desirable.
- Must be able to use ArcView software in assisting with the continuing development of the GIS Division.
- Must have the ability to assist with the design and production of GIS data.
- Must have an understanding of earth coordinate systems and map projections, be familiar with cartographic design principles, with relational databases, and have experience with photographic remote sensing.
- Must possess a good working knowledge of either AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the design and development of databases for mapping, boundary, topographic and subdivision projects.
- Must be especially sensitive to completion schedules and submittal deadlines.
- Must be able to understand and visualize plans or drawings in three dimensions.
- Must be punctual in work assignments, conduct self in a professional manner in the presence of clients and co-workers, take pride in one’s work, show an eagerness to learn, demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and completeness and meet project schedules and budgets.
- Must continually work to sharpen skills and improve on understanding of mapping and quality control techniques.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Access, and possess good oral and written communications skills.
- Must have a proven ability to work proficiently in ArcInfo and ArcView as well as being able to conceptually understand other GIS packages on the market.
- Must be able to perform application development using SQL, Visual Basic, ArcMacro language, and Avenue software to customize data.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- US citizenship required.
- Must pass a stereo vision test.

This job requires the following physical activities: Climbing (stairs), stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Visual Acuity Requirements of the Job.
This job meets the minimum standards for use with those whose work deals largely with computer operations at distances close to the eyes. This job requires the use of specialized eye equipment to view objects in 3D.
Physical Requirements of the Job.
Sedentary work involving sitting much of the time. The incumbent to this job may be required to lift and load paper rolls weighing 10-15 pounds into the plotter.
